Our Story

In 2018, Table for Lou's founder, Anthony, began teaching free cooking classes to St. Louis's youth from disadvantaged communities. These classes have focused on teaching kids the fundamental skills needed nourish themselves and their families. Table for Lou has shared meals with thousands of kids over the years and has instilled the love of generous helpings in our students.

In 2023, Table for Lou began serving free dinners to the families in the Children's Hospital. The first year, Table for Lou fed more than 4,000 families hot great tasting meals!

Table for Lou is a small St. Louis nonprofit made up of thirty or so dedicated volunteers, all who want to make St Louis a better place.

Some of the communities we support:

"What a great group that we met during our stay at Children’s hospital! Each Wed this non-profit organization provided a dinner for the families, we looked forward to what Chef and his team would create. To say their food was delicious is an understatement. Jacob enjoyed trying different foods and found new favorites each week. Last week Chef asked him what his favorite dish was and he’d put it on the menu for this week ❤️ They are a great organization that teaches kids to cook so if you’re in the StL area and can volunteer or can donate like I know we will we encourage it. If you want to enjoy the deliciousness of their food you can catch them at various StL outings, like Taste of StL. Thank you Chef and Table for Lou ❤️"
Crystie - Mother of BJC Patient
"Thank you for caring about these kids and the families. Until you are in the situation of having to stay in the hospital you can never understand how much a home cooked meal means to us."
Sharon - NICU Grandparent
"We always appreciated your meals so much while being inpatient in the hospital. We were there for 3 months at one stay and it was a special, very much appreciated meal."
Liz - Mother of BJC Patient
"I just wanted to post a sincere thank you to you and your friends. Looking forward to the different menu and trying to guess what it would be each week definitely gave us something different to think about while in the hospital. The food was always delicious! More importantly, you and your friends always made sure every single person was welcome, patients and family were truly seen and interacted with. While the food was buffet line, the conversations were not. For the long haul families, that weekly interaction is certainly a source of light. A very welcome escape. Keep doing what you’re doing. It is very much appreciated!"
